RICK REIDY

RICK REIDY is a trained economist based in Washington DC and Los Angeles.  He counsels companies, labor unions, and non-profit groups on financing and government affairs by drawing upon a broad professional and personal background.

Mr. Reidy is founder and director of the California Green Future Fund, a targeted private venture capital fund that invests in early-stage companies whose products and policies contribute to a clean environment, a healthy workplace, and a stable community.

He also serves as president of the Health Policy and Research Foundation of California, a non-profit charity founded by Republican political consultant Bruce B. Decker in 1986, with a broad mandate to promote public policy discussion and specific action on issues that directly affect the general health and welfare.

He acts as director and senior program consultant to the International Intellectual Property Institute, a Washington DC-based economic development organization and think tank that he helped to fund.  IIPI promotes the protection and use of intellectual property as a key tool for job creation and economic growth in the USA and around the world.

Mr. Reidy has appeared frequently as a commentator on Los Angeles television and radio.  He consults informally for many national and local political campaigns.

Mr. Reidy was a founder in 1991 of a start-up venture that pioneered the concept of direct-to-consumer sales of recorded music.

He served previously as chief financial officer for a boutique property development group in Los Angeles, where he arranged the financing packages for the company's building projects of custom homes and office buildings.

During the 1980s, Mr. Reidy worked in Washington, DC, managing political programs and raising funds as a special assistant under two chairmen of the Democratic National Committee.

Mr. Reidy has directed finance projects for political campaigns for U.S. President and for U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.  From the Democratic national headquarters, he acted as a consultant for state parties and for dozens of candidates at national, state and local levels.  He frequently lectured on national politics and campaign finance issues to audiences of state legislators and foreign diplomats and to business, university and fraternal groups.

Earlier, Mr. Reidy worked at a Washington trade group representing employee-owned companies and firms financed by employee-leveraged buy-outs.

A graduate in economics of the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Reidy has also studied and worked in Mexico City, Boston and New York.  He worked through his school years in radio broadcasting as an on-air announcer, talk show host, news writer and engineer.  He grew up as a salesman and all-purpose assistant in his father's retail stores in western New York State.

His interest in public service continues through his fundraising efforts for candidates for national, state and local offices.  He has personally raised millions of dollars for non-profit and charity groups.
